4th International Cartoon Museum Meeting

The European Cartoon Center was from 7 to 9 September the host of the 4th International Cartoon Museum Meeting in Kruishoutem.
The theme was 'Connecting through Cartoons'. We wanted to encourage contact with the visitors, the cartoonists, society in general, the other cartoon museums ...

It was truly a multicultural and highly instructive meeting with 25 representatives from 15 museums from 12 different countries (Azerbaijan, Belgium, Bulgaria, Egypt,  the Netherlands, Poland, Portugal, Russia, Serbia, Turkey and the U.S.). We shared a lot of ideas and success stories and made concrete agreements for cooperation.
And the ECC celibrated his 5th anniversary together with the foreign guests and Belgian cartoonists and cartoon friends, with a reception at the town hall and a giant barbecue.

Every day there was a conference newspaper with reports on the conference and background information about Kruishoutem, Ghent, beer, beguinages ... Here you can read the newspapers: Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday.

The success stories of the museums can be found on www.slideshare.net and the conclusions of the meeting on cartoonmuseumconference.wordpress.com

More info can be found on the blog of the conference and on our Facebook-page.

  • Hello
I am the Secretary of The Australian Cartoon Museum Inc. At present we only have a website and are hoping to establish our own Cartoon Museum in Melbourne, Australia. We have a collection of 3,000,000 Australian Cartoons and we need a home for them.
Would someone involved with your Museum be able to give us some advice please?
We are trying to write a business plan/proposal to present to our Government to ask for a building and some funding. We are interested in some of your experience in setting up your museum, how did you finance it? We are trying to work out costs to include in our plan. Also would you have any advice on how to keep a museum running. Any help you could give us would be much appreciated.
Aina Crawford, Secretary, The Australian Cartoon Museum Inc.
